St. Edward Library is one level, just under 5,000 square feet and fully handicap accessible from both entrances. The St. Edward Library is a member of the Nebraska Library System, and the board and librarian are accredited by the state.
The library contains approximately 30,000 volumes and has an average annual circulation of 8,000. The library contains audio books for adults, cassettes for children, reference books, large print books, and best sellers for adults.
The computer lab has 7 computers complete with Internet access open to the public. The library also contains a children’s section with small tables and chairs, and a genealogy room which holds many local pictures, school annuals, and cemetery records. Story hour is held for children grades Preschool-3rd grade during the school season.
The St. Edward Advance is available on microfilm. A TV with a VHS and DVD player is also available for viewing videos. The back patio boasts a wall of plaques with the names of donors. Blocks can be purchased for a $100 donation.
The meeting room holds 25-30 and is available free of charge to small groups such as 4-H members, girl scouts, community development, and quilt clubs. There is a $10 fee for other activities such as small parties, showers, or card club groups. There is a $25 fee for any one selling retail products. The library has had two quilt shows and has hosted the Santa Run. Speakers that have been to the library include Dick Turpin, Charlotte Endorf for Orphan Train, and Nebraska author Stephanie Grace Whitson.
